Cholesterol: how low to go?

“Many types of cancer and other chronic diseases are now known to be connected with lower cholesterol and there is evidence that people with low cholesterol are at greater risk of suicide. However, we don’t know if most of these conditions are lowering cholesterol or if lower cholesterol is causing the conditions. Walking, Calcium Can Prevent Bone Loss

Regular walking and a high-calcium diet can prevent bone loss in some of the millions of women who suffer from osteoporosis, according to Boston researchers. A study of 36 women averaging 60 years old found that walking for less than an hour four times a week staved off bone loss from the spine. Read more…

The wrist, which is painful and a nuisance but not life-threatening;

The spine, which is painful, shortens one’s stature but is not life-threatening;

Discovery of a protein that apparently plays a key role in the beginning of pregnancy was reported by scientists at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia. The discovery raises the immediate possibility of new types of contraceptives as well as the diagnosis and treatment of heretofore unexplained forms of female infertility, the scientists said.
